I tip my “Hillbilly” hat to a DJ named Robert Gillaspie! Bob lives in Owensboro Kentucky and I had tried to call him about a dance he was having, but he was not there so I hung up when his answering machine came on line figuring he didn’t know who I was anyway! Wow was I surprised when I got home that night and checked my answering machine there was this message,……”my name is Robert Gillaspie, with Jagman Sound, I have caller ID on my phone and I noticed that you called this afternoon, if there is anything I can do to help you please call me back at____!” You bet I called him back, how innovative can you get! Bob says he has gotten a lot of extra business by using caller ID! Try it too you might like it! If you have any good ideas let me hear about them!
Bill Siebe this BARN dance was for you!
Wednesday morning April 28th, I received a phone call from Speedo. Speedo is a very close friend that I have made through country dancing. Speedo explained to me the tragedy that had befallen Bill Siebe a long time member of our country dance family. Bill had passed away the night before, and I am sure you will read several articles about Bill & Linda Siebe’s dedication to country dance.
A Natural Progression!
I guess I’ve been known for being very progressive and have always enjoyed helping new DJ’s get started into country music and dancing.??Here’s what’s on my mind! Nashville and the record labels don’t seem to be interested in producing country dance music, by major artists, anymore. Part of that I am sure has to do with politics and the over saturated market of new country artist who all sound the same.??I believe that the record labels are missing a market. Country dancers will but a whole lot of music if it was dance able! Country dancers are being forced to look for music outside of the country music to get a good dance able beat. Lots of 50 & 60’s songs as well as Techno are being in the clubs and all these music sales are going to other labels. Why because Nashville’s not putting out much country dance able music!??For those who made Las Vegas, it was great to meet you all and to hear and share your incredible ideas that you brought with you. I bought a new DISCO “Hillbilly” jacket from Bobby Morganstein that has these shiny things all over it! Looks great with my Bib Overalls and Bear Feet! Meeting everybody helped me to understand a lot about how much we can help each other by sharing ideas; especially positive ones. For those who didn’t attend, I hope you can make it next year. One Fantastic EVENT!!!! ??Suggestions or Ideas!

Probably the most played Waltz song of all time is “Could I Have This Dance”, by Ann Murray. Number 2 may be “Walk Across Texas”, by Ernest Tubbs and 3rd probably “Their Hearts Are Dancing!”, by the Forrester Sisters. If you don’t have all 3 of these songs then you had better hitch up your giddy up and go down and fetch em!
